Meetup

Meet Samantha LaBat

Over the past few years, we’ve hosted monthly meetups of all sorts. We’ve had gatherings that were open to the outside world, addressed issues of global concern, and featured high-profile guests. We’ve also had gatherings with just a handful of Steyer colleagues chatting quietly (sometimes even idly!) with one another.

During these meetups, we’ve talked about identity and belonging, work and play, movies and TV, music and video games, grief and fear, content and action. Together, we’ve done improv, magic, and mindreading (we really missed using our words). Once upon a time, we even had a singalong!

The good news is that these meetups are going to continue. Even better news is that, starting in September, they’ll be led by Samantha LaBat, a Steyer Content project manager, writer, film devotee, and DEI enthusiast. Kate Walton, Steyer’s CEO and owner, who has managed our meetup program to date, will continue to attend as an enthusiastic participant but is delighted that these sessions will have the benefit of fresh eyes and a new approach.

August’s meetup will be a chance for Kate to introduce Samantha to those of you who don’t know her. It will also be a chance for Samantha to hear what you’d most like to see from digital meetups going forward. (FYI Kelsey Buchanan is your go-to for real-life get-togethers.)

Please RSVP at least 24 hours before the session, so that you can refuel and reconnect at the same time. All attendees who register in advance will receive an UberEats voucher, so that your lunch that day is on us.

Process note: This session is part of a series of monthly meetups that Steyer hosts. Some of these meetups are limited to Steyer employees only; some are open to the public. The idea is simply to spend a bit of time together exchanging stories and ideas—to get to know one another better and to learn from one another.
