What's Happening This Month?

PROGRAMMING NOTE:
We’ve really enjoyed throwing open our doors and inviting the broader content community to attend our monthly DEI Chats, and we’ll continue to do so.

However, for this month (February 2022), we’re choosing to have an internal session to connect around 1) a new set of benefits we’re rolling out and 2) the question of how to design a great virtual workplace. Belowfor an inside peek at how we operateis the email invite for this session that was sent to everyone on the Steyer team.

Process note: This session is part of a series of monthly meetups that Steyer hosts. Some of these meetups are limited to Steyer employees only; some are open to the public. The idea is simply to spend a bit of time together exchanging stories and ideas—to get to know one another better and to learn from one another.

Hi, AllPlease hold this time for February’s meetup! It is optional, but we’d love to see as many of you there as possible, and those of you who RSVP at least 24 hours in advance will receive a $25 lunch voucher, so that it’s easy for you to refuel while you participate. We were asked to mix things up a bit this year by hosting some internal discussions from time to time, instead of always having an outside speaker. So that’s the plan for this session!First, Katelyn will briefly review the PPP benefits we announced a few weeks ago, and then we’ll take questions on that program. Any questions: they can be logistical in nature (e.g. How exactly can we access these benefits?) or philosophical in nature (e.g. What were the equity issues we considered during the planning process?)or whatever else is on your mind. The second topic we’re going to discuss is the question of how best to design a virtual workplace that is both vibrant and inclusive, in the deepest possible sense. This part of the session will be a listening session more than anything else, and we hope you’ll consider chiming in.  Speaking of chiming in: we’re going to make it possible to do that—both in the session and before the session—in multiple ways since not everyone loves speaking in groups. *In* the session, you can have the floor and tell us how you feel (on camera or off) OR you can pop your question into the chat.
*Before* the session, you can send questions or suggestions (completely anonymously) to our brand new Suggestion Box, powered by the adorably-named Suggestion Ox. Thanks,Kate
