FridAI: Markdown Should Be in Your 2026 Toolbox

Markdown isn’t just for techies anymore. In this session of our monthly, generally internal-only “FridAI” series for Steyer Associates, Steyer PM Alex Bernson dug into how this simple plain-text format has become the universal language for AI agents, documentation, and professional content workflows. With Alex, we explored how this simple plain-text format enables you to communicate precisely with AI systems that can read, write, and execute on your behalf. (And we recorded it all to share with the public!)

What we learned:

  • What Markdown is and why it’s the standard for AI communication
  • How agents read inputs, follow instructions, execute commands, and iterate interactively
  • Why structured, declarative writing is essential for getting results from AI
  • Best practices for thinking structure-first
The session features live demonstrations working directly with AI agents—creating branded slide decks from Markdown, modifying agent skills in real time, and converting documents between formats. You’ll see firsthand how your documents can become executable instructions that agents act on.
