Suit and Tie

Hello from Steyer,

This week, we have a quiet Teams workspace: a couple Steyer back office folks are out on well-deserved PTO, and we sent a delegation of Steyer folks to WACUBO in Vegas(!). WACUBO is not a celebrity chef restaurant (though it would be a good name for one); it’s the annual conference of the Western Association of College and University Business Officers, and one of our higher ed clients invited us to attend given our successful organizational design work with them.

My phone’s been buzzing with updates from Tony, Josh Krenz (oversees our managed work), and Everett Ross (oversees our org design practice)—the conference has been full of interesting introductions and new information about the market. The incarnation of Josh that Tony and I lovingly refer to as “Conference Josh” has been present and on a tear to Talk To All The People. Conferences are like triple-shot espresso drinks to Josh, who doesn’t drink coffee. And though no one’s reported on this detail to me specifically, I guarantee you Everett has been in a suit and tie the whole time.

This org design and business transformation part of Steyer’s business is still lesser known, I think. I recently met up with a consultant of ours in town from Europe; he works on a Microsoft engagement with us, and as we sipped our oat milk lattes at Soul Food in Redmond, he was surprised to learn we have a whole, muscular arm of business in org design. I loved getting to share about it with him, and while I’m in the sharing spirit, let me show you all our updated org design website landing page. We’d like to do a better job of getting Steyer’s name out there with public and private sector clients in this space, and after WACUBO, we have some better ideas for how to do that.

Hoping you’re all well and finding your footing day by day!

Thanks,
Katelyn
