Progress Report

At the beginning of the year, I articulated our mission, which is to create and nurture as many good jobs for creative professionals as possible.

I also committed in that post to publishing twice a year, in June and December, a report showing where we are on the various dimensions we associate with good jobs.

Below is our first report. I’d be happy to address any comments or questions you send my way; please email me at kwalton@steyer.net.

In the meantime, thank you for your interest and, in many cases, your support. Sharing internal data feels like a leap, but an important one. I’m heartened to be taking that leap in the company of my thoughtful and committed colleagues, as well as the many kindred spirits who populate the broader content community.

Added below (in December 2022) is our second report. “Progress” feels like it should perhaps go in air quotes because it’s been a tough six months—not just for Steyer but for the whole tech sector. Due to client-side budget cuts, we are wrapping up the year with fewer people than we had at the mid-year mark. We aim to reverse these losses next year. In the meantime, we are continuing our focus on the quality of the Steyer experience, both for clients and for talent. On that measure as well, as much as we take pride in the many engagements that have gone well, we recognize that not all engagements have been smooth sailing. Learning from hard experiences and focusing on continual improvement remains a preoccupation, alongside our goal to expand the total number of jobs we support.

As always, I’d be happy to address any comments or questions you send my way; please email me at kwalton@steyer.net.
